Special dipping noodles|Menya Takei-honten

We visited Menya Takei’s main branch, a very famous ramen restaurant in Joyo City, Kyoto Prefecture.
The store is easy to get to by car, with several parking spaces at the store and a large parking lot just a short walk away. By public transportation, it is about a 12-minute walk from Nagaike Station on the JR Nara Line.

We arrived at 11:30 on a Sunday, and as expected of such a popular ramen restaurant, there was a line of about 20 people waiting in line. “Menya Takei-honten” has a meal ticket system, where you purchase a meal ticket in the restaurant before standing in line, hand it to the waiter, and wait in line.

This time, I ordered “Tokusei Tsukemen” (special dipping noodles). Dipping noodles are cold, so the soup often gets cold when dipped in the noodle soup. “Menya Takei-honten” will reheat the soup for you so that you can always enjoy the best tasting Dipping noodles.

After being shown to your table, you wait for your Dipping Noodles. The “Menya Takei-honten” recommended ramen “Tokusei Tsukemen” (Special dipping noodles) arrives. I enjoyed it so much that I ordered a large serving of “Tokusei Tsukemen” (Special dipping noodles).

There are four pieces of char siu pork covering the noodles, just like the ramen. Just looking at them makes you feel satisfied. The dipping sauce is a rich seafood and pork bone broth that you can tell just by looking at it. Unable to resist, I immediately dip my noodles into the soup. The surprisingly rich broth was well mixed with the noodles and was very tasty. Dipping noodles in soup is a rare occurrence.

I also asked the staff to reheat the soup, a special service at Menya Takei-honten. This is a great experience that can be enjoyed twice, as you can enjoy the tsukemen again with a fresh taste. The balance of richness and a hint of sweetness was too good to describe in words.

“Menya Takei-honten” is a ramen restaurant where you can feel the warmth of the wait staff’s attentive service, and where the taste, space, and time are all perfect. No wonder there are long lines of customers.
