This restaurant has long been a favorite in the area crowded with restaurants north of Nakano Station. It had been quite a while since I last visited, but when I popped in, a seat was available, so I decided to go in.

It had been a long time since I had been to Aoba. I bought a meal ticket outside and entered the restaurant. I was quite tempted by the tsukemen (dipping noodles), but since it had been a while, I decided on the “Tokusei chuka soba” (Special chinese noodle).

I stopped by because a seat was available, but it was not noticeably empty, and the restaurant was almost full. Nevertheless, it did not seem to take long from the time of ordering to the time the ramen was served.

Now, a delicious-looking “Tokusei chuka soba” (Special chinese noodle) appeared in front of me.

First, I try a sip of the soup. The pleasant taste is a perfect combination of animal flavor and niboshi (dried sardines). This flavor is so good that you will want to enjoy it forever. This restaurant is said to be a pioneer of W soup, a blend of animal and seafood.

The medium-thick noodles are a little soft and go well with the soup. It is a well-balanced and delicious Chinese noodle dish.

The char siu pork is a fluffy pork shoulder loin that is well soaked in the broth. The black pepper studded on it is a perfect accent.

Menma (pickled bamboo shoots) have a crunchy texture and are a nice accent. Wrapping the noodles in nori (seaweed) adds another layer of deliciousness to the dish.

It has been a long time since I had “Aoba’s Chinese noodles,” and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
