Tenjinbashisuji-shotengai (Tenjinbashisuji Shopping Street) stretches from Tenma Station in Osaka Prefecture. If you go north on that Tenjinbashisuji-shotengai (Tenjinbashisuji Shopping Street), you will reach Tenjinbashisuji Rokuchome Station. Brick street is located eastward from the station.
Gunjo” is located on the brick street to the east. There is no prominent signboard, and “Gunjo” is written only faintly inside the restaurant.
The restaurant has a counter with seven seats. On weekends, customers line up in front of the restaurant even before business hours, making it a popular ramen restaurant.

Tsukemen (Dipping noodles) is the main menu item at “Gunjo”, with “Ame Tsuke” being the most popular.
The soup of “Ame Tsuke” is a thick broth of niboshi (dried sardines) and grated radish. The noodles are homemade thin and straight, using 100% Hokkaido wheat.
This time, I ordered the very popular “Ame Tsuke”.

I purchased a ticket for “Ame Tsuke” from the ticket machine at the entrance and placed my order. After a short wait, the noodles and soup arrived.
The soy sauce broth is refreshing, but the sweetness and richness of the niboshi broth is impressive. The soup is exquisite, layered with the deep flavor of soy sauce.

The noodles are homemade thin, straight noodles with low water content. 100% “Yumechikara” wheat from Hokkaido is used. The thin, watered-down noodles have the best wheat flavor and are surprisingly delicious.
The noodles have a firm texture, smooth and comfortable to the touch, and the delicate noodles are layered in a number of ways to create a flavor that is one with the soup, which can only be described as the best.

The pork shoulder rare char siu topping offers a moist texture of meat, and the chicken on the bone is cooked to the point of being gnawable to the bone.
Vegetables add to the fun of the toppings and balance everything out.

The “Ame Tsuke” at “Gunjo” was the perfect balance. The rich, refreshing taste made it the perfect summer “tsukemen” (dipping noodles).
It is rich and full of seafood flavor, with a sweet and refreshing taste. If you are ever in Osaka, try the “tsukemen” (dipping noodles) at “Gunjo”.
