“Shina soba Kouya” is a long-established restaurant in Yotsuya, Tokyo. This is a restaurant with a nostalgic, old-fashioned taste of Chinese soba.

Shina soba Kouya recommends the “Wonton noodle”, which is also a favourite of celebrities.

As this was my first visit to the restaurant, I of course ordered the popular ‘Wonton noodle’. Many other people also ordered the “Wonton noodle”. I thought it was indeed a popular menu item.

The first thing that surprised me was the delicious “shina soba soup” , which can be described as royal. The hot soup with a strong salty taste may be subject to different opinions, but for me the soup had a “this is the taste of the royal road” kind of feel to it.
Taking a sip of the soup, the salty taste of the soup has a strong impact.

The noodles are thin and have an excellent consistency with the broth. The slippery texture is characteristic of traditional Chinese noodles, which may not be the same as trendy ramen, but have a different appeal.

And the “Wonton” were large enough in size and quantity, with five large “Wonton” in the package.
The meaty “Wonton” had a good texture and the ingredients had a sour taste.

The char siu pork is also very tasty and tender. The shredded green onions and menma(seasoned bamboo) shoots were also well balanced, making for a very satisfying meal overall.
